Meet Coach Shonda

Q: What does Empowering Women mean to you?

Shonda: Empowering women means teaching women they do not have to stay broken, quiet, desperate, or loyal to what keeps hurting them. It means helping women stop begging for love, shrinking for acceptance, and surviving off crumbs. It is healing, accountability, boundaries, and confidence after chaos. It is women finally realizing, “I deserve better than this,” and actually moving like they believe it.

Q: How did you get started working in your field?

Shonda: I got started in this field through my own pain, survival, healing, and life experience. What I went through could have broken me, but instead it pushed me to speak up, heal out loud, and help other women do the same. I realized too many women were silently carrying trauma, toxic relationships, abandonment, shame, and survival mode while pretending they were okay. I did not get into this work because it sounded good. I got into it because I lived it, survived it, and knew my story was bigger than my pain.

Q: What do you love most about your job? / What are you most proud of?

Shonda: What I love most about my work is being able to walk into rooms as my full, loud, outspoken, unapologetic self and give other women permission to do the same. I do not come from a bunch of credentials or perfect titles. I come from life experience, pain, survival, healing, and lessons that no book could ever teach. I come from hard knocks, self-teaching, resilience, and figuring life out the hard way without giving up. I love mentoring and coaching because I know what it feels like to need guidance, support, honesty, and someone who truly understands without judgment. Watching women grow, heal, set boundaries, find their voice, and finally choose themselves is personal for me. I made room for myself at tables people thought I did not belong at, and I bring other women with me every chance I get because I am a girl’s girl to the core. My beauty on the outside is just as vibrant as the strength, fire, and heart I carry inside. Most of all, I am so damn proud of the woman I became after everything that tried to break me. The same people who doubted me now get to watch my growth, my strength, my healing, and my power in real time.

Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work?

Shonda: If you are considering this work, understand that people do not just need your advice, they need your honesty, your heart, your presence, and your ability to truly listen. This work is not for people chasing attention or titles. It is for people willing to sit with pain, growth, healing, and uncomfortable truths. You do not need to come from perfection or have a fancy background to change lives. Some of the most powerful wisdom comes from surviving things no classroom could teach. Stay authentic, stay compassionate, protect your peace, and never water yourself down to make other people comfortable. I said, what I said!!

Q: Anything else you would like to add?

Shonda: I look forward to partnership.
