What does Empowering Women in Industry mean to you?
It means creating diversity & proving that ANYONE is capable of whatever it is they want in life with some hard work, kindness, loyalty & determination.
How did you get started in your field?
I was looking for a job in the staffing market, when a woman staffer suggested I give sales a shot... the job opening she had was in a company that manufactured gaskets, & sold hoses. I've never looked back.
What do you love most about your job? What are you most proud of?
I love that challenge is around every corner, it makes success that much sweeter. Plus I like getting dirty, so getting paid to do it is a plus.
What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work?
Don't give up, I know that's cliche, but just when you think you can't push anymore is always when the light shines through the clouds & the phone starts ringing.
Anything else you would like to add?
My mother was a fitness trainer & came up in a male driven industry in the 80's. She thrived, educated herself and worked very hard to overcome the stigma that women were weak & couldn't keep up with men. She thrived for 35 years before retiring as a very successful person trainer & gym manager. She always told me that it doesn't matter who you are, if you work hard & maintain determination, you WILL succeed.
