What does Empowering Women mean to you?
In my case, I use many of my life's journeys and stories to help inspire and empower others. My most recent example was published in my memoir Even Strong Girls Cry about how I received a breast cancer diagnosis in 2020 (March) in NYC and subsequently denied treatment. I refused to accept no for an answer and fought for the treatment I deserved. By telling my story and exposing both my vulnerabilities and resilience, it has helped other women who are going through adversity. I've always been recognized for my own strength and resilience, but on the inside, things can feel very different--hence the title Even Strong Girls Cry. I love using my journey as someone else's guide not just to survive, but to thrive!
How did you get started working in your field?
Cancer and Covid!
What do you love most about your job? / What are you most proud of?
I love inspiring other people and helping them live their best lives.
What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work?
I would say that being as authentic and open with yourself and your strengths and weaknesses is key to really helping others. The journey starts from within oneself, at least that is what I believe. I had to go through a huge journey of self-discovery and healing before I was in a position to help others.
