Meet Urmi Hossain, a Finance Professional

Q: What does Empowering Women mean to you?


Urmi: To me, empowering means helping women recognize their own potential and giving them the confidence to use their voice, take up space, and believe they are capable of more than they think.

It is not about changing who someone is, but helping them embrace who they already are


Q: How did you get started working in your field?


Urmi: I describe my relationship with finance as “love at first sight,” which started in the classroom during university. The moment I took my first finance class, I knew this was what I wanted to do.


From my first job to my continuous commitment to learning and completing different designations, that passion only grew deeper. Today, I truly cannot see myself doing anything outside of finance.


And I hope other women also get the opportunity to discover the same passion and confidence in their chosen fields.


Q: What do you love most about your job? / What are you most proud of?


Urmi: I work in finance, specifically in the wealth management division. I manifested the job I have today, and I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be doing what I love most.


I have earned the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation, one of the most recognized and challenging programs in the finance industry. As a woman in finance, this is an achievement I am extremely proud of.


Q: What advice would you give to someone considering this line of work?


Urmi: Find mentors and allies who can guide you throughout your journey. When it comes to growth and learning, it is not something you can do entirely on your own. Having guidance from people who have already walked a similar path can make a meaningful difference.
