The Manufacturing Institute honors ABB’s Jodi Cooper

ABB’s Jodi Cooper, Manager of Customer & Partner Communications, has been named a 2023 Women MAKE award winner by The Manufacturing Institute, the workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers.

Celebrating Jodi Cooper

With a background and passion for science, technology and communicating complex topics, Jodi is not only an expert at translating technical subject matter, but also a skilled mentor and team leader.

Over her 20 years in the manufacturing industry, Jodi has been a great example of the importance of exploring diverse ways of thinking. She designs her work with her customers in mind, ensuring partners and distributors receive exceptional guidance and high-quality products.

“I like learning about things and then explaining them,” said Jodi. “I tell stories so press will run it, or customers will understand the value. Everything we do at ABB is a solution to something, and each product we make helps solve a different problem. Telling the story of how is the fun part.”

Not only does Jodi place an emphasis on the customer experience, but she also takes an individual, hands-on approach to mentoring each of her team members, crafting their developmental needs, efforts and projects based on their unique talents. This allows each person to get the individual support and resources they need and deserve to be successful.

In addition, Jodi is a constant reminder of the importance of giving back. She founded the Peacock Strides for Babies, a walk/run fundraiser, in memory of her daughter, Emily “Peacock” Ware. All proceeds benefitted the CJ Foundation for SIDS.

She also serves as a board member of Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas and is an active member of her church, and with Meals on Wheels and the United Way.

About the Women Make America Awards

The Women MAKE Awards are a critical component of the Women MAKE America initiative, an industry-wide effort to close the gender gap in manufacturing. The awards recognize women and their achievements at all levels of a manufacturing organization. Among the 1,000+ candidates, 100 Honorees and 30 Emerging Leaders are selected based on their leadership, innovation, mentorship, and community impact.

Formal Recognition

The 2023 award recipients have been invited to attend a two-day leadership program in Washington, D.C. in April and will be honored at a gala.
