"I am excited to be a part of such a great community of #WomenInIndustry ! I am a working wife and mother with almost 15 years of experience in the OG&C industry. I started out as an executive assistant with a small tank company before getting my foot in the door at one of Houston's largest EPC firms in their Plant Design & Piping Group where I spent almost 10 years building an amazing career before I was laid off in 2016. After a couple of months of searching, I went to work for a chemical manufacturing company but ended up in a position that I just wasn't happy with so after a little networking I was fortunate to find a position with an amazing company where I get to spend 6 months in a training program learning what we do. I've spent time inside with our sales teams as well as outside in the shop with our assemblers learning what our products do and how they work together. On top of all of that I am also a college student and have been working towards my Bachelors of Science - Industrial Engineering Technology degree since 2014 and this December I will finally graduate! I've been through so many highs and lows throughout my journey and I have so much to share with anyone who might be going through the struggles of working full time, raising a family and furthering your education. There were times that I felt overwhelmed and even thought about giving up but I kept pushing through and I am so glad that I did!
The attached picture is from when I was out in our assembly shop with Willie! I spent a whole week with him and I learned so much. The best part was that he let me help, he let me actually do things and I think it helped that I showed him that I was there to not only learn but to work and get my hands dirty. I think that made all the difference in just how much he allowed himself to open up to me and was willing to teach me."
